Before developing Drunk Elephant, I had all sorts of skin issues. I was a frustrated, confused brand-hopper searching for anything that would help. Nothing really worked, and if it did, it didn't work for long. I started educating myself about ingredients, how skin reacts to them, and what roles they play in a formulation. I identified six ingredient categories that I believed were at the root of my issues—today we call them the Suspicious 6.

Our Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser contains mild cleansing agents, including coconut-based surfactants rich in fatty acids, that work together to create a gentle lather. This effectively dissolves stubborn makeup, sunscreen, and oils while supporting a healthy skin barrier. Glycerin, a skin-identical humectant, helps replenish hydration levels that are normally lost during the cleansing process. Cucumis Melo Cantalupensis (Cantaloupe) Fruit Extract, rich in antioxidants, helps soothe and hydrate. Virgin Marula Oil, high in critical antioxidants and omegas 6 and 9, boosts the cleansing and makeup-removal power of the Beste No.9.

Our Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser is a moisturizing cleansing balm that leaves behind a healthy glow. The E-Rase Milki Micellar Water is a milky and gentle micellar water that requires no rinsing afterward. The Juju Bar, formulated without harsh additives and containing thermal mud and bamboo powder, provides a creamy lather that can dissolve pore-clogging impurities. The Pekee Bar, infused with a blend of blueberry extract, marula oil, and honey, moisturizes while gently cleansing the skin.

All our products are formulated to be non-irritating and non-sensitizing, with ingredients based on biocompatibility. Our focus is on healthy pH levels, formulations the skin recognizes, small molecular structure, and effective active ingredients. We never use the Suspicious 6, which we believe are at the root of almost every skin issue: essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, and SLS.
